WBA 154-pound champion Miguel Cotto says there is no debate on who the best Puerto Rican boxer is of all-time. Cotto views Wilfredo Gomez, a former WBC super bantamweight and featherweight champion, as the best Puerto Rican boxer to ever put on the gloves. Gomez also held the WBA super featherweight title. Recently there had been a debate on the best Puerto Rican fighter of all-time, with Gomez being named among a short list of boxers. The others were Wilfred Benitez, Carlos Ortiz and Felix Trinidad.

"He is without any doubt the best Puerto Rican boxer of all-time. There shouldn't even be a discussion on it, Wilfredo Gomez has been the best among every Puerto Rican fighter in the history of the sport in our country," Cotto said.
