The Cotto family came up big at the annual boxing awards being presented by the Puerto Rico Boxing Commission. The awards dinner will be held on Wednesday. The event will be dedicated to the memory of Miguel Cotto Sr., who died in January due to heart failure.

WBO featherweight champion Juan Manuel "Juanma" Lopez will receive the honor of being the 2009 boxer of the year. Juanma defended his title three times in 2009, including a fight of the year decision win over Rogers Mtagwa. Juanma was the 2005 rookie of the year in Puerto Rico.

H2 Entertainment and Miguel Cotto Promotions will be recognized as the "promoters of the year" for their work on the island and with Puerto Rican fighters.

Jose Miguel Cotto will win the award for "comeback of the year." In 2009 he returned after a two year layoff to win three fights, all by knockout.

Unbeaten prospect Abner Cotto will receive the 2009 award for "rookie of the year."
