IBF junior middleweight champion Cory Spinks makes his return to the ring against challenger Rodney Jones on January 6 in Miami, Florida. The bout will fall on the undercard of the James Toney-Samuel Peter rematch. The event will be televised by the Showtime network.
Recordnet reports that while the contract has not been signed, Jones has been asked to attend the Tuesday press conference to announce the fight.
"I'm confident we're ready to go," Jones said. "I'm ready to fight him. It has taken a while to get it done, but the important thing is that I've been training and I'm in great shape," Jones said.
Jones' manager told the publication that both sides have agreed to the terms and he expects no snags in the fight happening.
"Everything is negotiated, has been looked at by lawyers on both sides and seems in order, and they've asked us to show up in Florida for the press conference," said Tom DiFrancesco, manager of Jones. "We were as accommodating as we could be because we want to get Cory in the ring."
