FEBRUARY’S boxing card in Toowoomba is starting to take shape with another promising young boxer joining Brendon Smith’s stable.
Cory Hess is the third Toowoomba boxer to join Smithy’s Promotions and the 19-year-old will turn professional when Smith promotes a show in Toowoomba in February.
Hess has had 35 amateur fights, winning two Golden Glove titles, but his trainer Craig Monagle and Smith believe he is fighter who will make his biggest mark in the professional ranks.
“I think Cory is one of those fighters you see who is just destined to fight in the pros,” Smith said.
“I’m very happy to have signed him. He’s an exciting boxer and he’ll bring the house down when he fights.
I’m really looking forward to our promotion in February to show Toowoomba just how exciting this next generation of fighters really is.”
Hess is also looking to benefit from Smith’s many years in professional boxing, having signed a three-year deal with the promoter.
“I just want to make a name for myself,” Hess said. “I can’t wait to fight and I don’t care who it’s against.”
Hess now joins a formidable young team coming under the management of Brendon Smith, with Will Young and Braydon Smith already part of the team.
