After two years away, former WBU and WBO heavyweight champion Corrie Sanders (41-3, 31KOs) returned to the ring on Friday night in Mmabatho, and stopped Australian champion Colin Wilson (32-19, 20KOs) in the second round.

According to the South African News, both Sanders and Wilson threw boxing out the window and came out in the first round throwing bombs from close range.

In the second round, Sanders began to land deadly body shots, punctuated by a left that send Wilson down in pain, prompting the ref to stop the fight.

Reports indicate that Sanders was not in the best condition, breathing very heavily after the fight. Sanders has battled conditioning issues in the past, as seen when he punched himself out against Hasim Rahman, and entered the ring in terrible shape to battle Vitali Klitschko.

On the undercard, there was an overseas upset when unknown Maxwell Awuku of Ghana stopped Lehlohonolo Ledwaba of South Africa to win the WBA Pan African super featherweight title. Awuku scored a knockdown in the first round, and dominated the fight until Ledwaba quit on his stool at the end of the ninth round.
