If there are two fighters who dislike eachother more than Diego Corrales and Jose Luis Castillo, they are probably Diego Corrales and Joel Casamayor.

On October 7, Deigo Corrales and Joel Casamayor meet for the third time to settle their differences in the ring. The fight will be the main event of a live telecast on Showtime television.

Their first meeting on October 4, 2003, as the co-feature to Evander Holyfield vs. James Toney, stole the show with a back and forth battle that saw both men suffer knockdowns. The fight was eventually stopped when the ring doctor stopped the fight due to severe cuts within Corrales' mouth.

A rematch was in high demand as they clashed again on March 6, 2004, for the vacant WBO super featherweight title. Unlike the first fight, Corrales used his heigth and reach to outbox Casamayor on route to a 12 round split decision. Corrales was knocked down in the tenth round, but managed to hold on for the win.

After Castillo was unable to make weight for his third meeting with Corrales on June 3 and as a result the bout was cancelled, Corrales went searching for best opponent possible, and that happened to be Joel Casamayor.

For years Casamayor has been vocal about Corrales, Castillo and Acelino Freitas ducking him after suffering close decision defeats to all three fighters. Now Casamayor gets his chance for revenge when he meets Corrales in their trilogy bout.
