At the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, a ten-round featherweight bout saw Cornelius Lock (19-4-1, 12KOs) stop previously undefeated Orlando Cruz (16-1, 7KOs) in five rounds.
After Cruz was getting off to a good start with his boxing, a right hook from Lock sent Cruz down in the final minute. Cruz got up unsteady. Lock nearly put him down again before the bell sounded. In the second, Cruz did a bit better and began to box from the outside. The third saw Cruz boxing well for the first two minutes. He got rocked once again near the end but this time he stood his ground and started to trade punches until the bell.
Cruz got off better in the fourth and did well in the fifth until a Lock threw a right hook up the middle and sent Cruz down for the second time in the fight. This time the ref felt Cruz was too hurt to continue and stopped the fight.
