Dereck Chisora may have a little more time to celebrate his birthday later this month. The heavyweight contender is set to top a bill at Copper Box Arena in London, but his bout and the entire show has been pushed back to February 15, one week later than the originally announced date.

The card remains intact and will still air live on Boxnation in the UK. Chisora is set to headline against an opponent to be determined, along with an undercard that features unbeaten rising contender Billy Joe Saunders and the cruiserweight debut of former light heavyweight titlist Nathan Cleverly.

A reshuffling of events in the house of Queensberry Promotions—with several of those shows to be announced in the coming weeks—is the only cause for the show being moved back. 

Chisora (19-4, 13KO), who turns 30 later this month, has enjoyed a career turnaround in 2013. The once brash Brit was seemingly on his way out following a humiliating stoppage loss to David Haye last summer, the tail end of a stretch in which he endured all four of his career losses—including three straight—in his past five contests. 

Signs of maturity have surfaced in an active 2013 campaign, having won four straight—all by knockout—and making his way back into heavyweight contention. His most recent effort came in late November, stopping Ondrej Pala in three rounds. 

Opponents are expected to shortly be announced for Chisora, as well as Saunders (19-0, 10KO), a middleweight prospect who has shown major promise in his five years as a pro following a tour with the 2008 Great Britain Olympic boxing squad. 


Featured on the undercard is the bout that is set on both sides. Cleverly (26-1, 12KO) returns to the ring for the first time since his title reign-ending knockout loss to Sergey Kovalev last summer. The Welshman will move up to cruiserweight, a move that was supposed to take place last month, only for it to be postponed due to a freak back injury suffered during fight week.


Cleverly will face southpaw Daniel Ammann (29-5-1, 6KO), who carries an eight-fight win streak into his first fight in the UK and outside of his native Australia. 


Also scheduled on the undercard, unbeaten prospects Frank Buglioni (11-0, 8KO) and Bradley Skeete (14-0, 4KO) appear in separate bouts.
