Jamie Conlan will hope to have an easier night than his last one when he returns to the ring.
The Belfast super-flyweight (17-0, 11 KOs), 29, is set to make his comeback at the Titanic Exhibition Centre.
Conlan’s promoter, Frank Warren, confirmed the news in a media release on Wednesday, stating that the fight, which will be a Commonwealth title defence, will happen on November 5, exclusively live on BoxNation.
He went through hell and high water –– and was down twice and cut to the left eye –– to win the aforementioned belt against Anthony Nelson back in April via an eighth round stoppage in which South Shields’ ‘Baby Face’ (11-1, 2 KOs) hit the deck three times before a halt was called to the contest by referee Marcus McDonnell.
And after Conlan returned on July 16 at Cardiff’s Ice Arena, securing a routine early ending of the game but limited Patrik Bartos, he could be in for another night of ups and downs.
Boxing Scene understands that 30-year-old ‘Nella’, as he’s affectionately known, will once again be in the opposite corner to ‘The Mexican’ as the pair engage in a tasty rematch of their Fight of the Year contender.
Though that has yet to be confirmed, we have been informed that that will be the case.
It is also believed that Irish heavyweight Con Sheehan, who is currently 1-0, will be handed a spot on the card –– only after he has won his next three fights, which are penned in for September 24 in Birmingham, October 1 in Manchester and October 29 on the undercard of Tyson Fury’s world heavyweight title rematch against former Ukrainian kingpin Wladimir Klitschko, while Paddy Barnes, who failed to secure a medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio but is a two-time Olympic bronze medallist and two-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist, could make his bow in the paid ranks.
