Featherweight Bruce Carrington dealt Jose Enrique Vivas his first knockout loss, stopping him in the third round Saturday in Las Vegas.
After a relatively even opening round in which both fighters found openings to land their power punches, the tide turned in the second round when Carrington landed 60 percent of his power punches and scored the fight’s lone knockdown. Vivas survived, but he could not prevent Carrington from teeing off on him before the referee halted the bout at 53 seconds of the third round.
Carrington was deadly accurate, connecting on 53 percent of his jabs and 56 percent of his power punches.
