In the opening bout of HBO's doubleheader, in Montreal, IBF super midleweight champion Lucian Bute stopped Edison Miranda in three rounds. The main event, from the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, saw Sergio Martinez lift the WBC/WBO middleweight titles from Kelly Pavlik with a unanimous twelve round decision. Martinez outlanded Pavlik 112-51 over last four rounds after Pavlik pulled even after round eight.
