Don’t ever count out Shane Mosley when he is an underdog fighting at The Staples Center. Nine years after his upset win over Oscar De La Hoya in the same building, Mosley, a 4-1 underdog, landed 49% of his power punches on route to a ninth round KO win over defending champ Margarito, who was KO’d for the first time in his 44-fight career. Mosley’s accurate power punching prevented Margarito from mounting any offense, as he managed to get off just 61 punches per round after averaging 90-plus punches per round in his KO win over Miguel Cotto last July. Mosley also averaged 37 jabs thrown per round among his 63 total punches thrown per round.
