During a recent interview with the Daily Graphic, welterweight contender Joshua Clottey said that he is clamoring for a fight with WBO welterweight champion Antonio Magarito.
"Margarito was scheduled to fight Cosme Rivera on September 9, but the latter pulled out. It has been rescheduled for December 2. We are both under one promoter and I am ready to jump at any opportunity to fight him," Clottey told the paper.
Clottey who recently debuted on HBO, picking up a strong decision win in the process, would like to build on the win by facing Margarito next.
He is the current number one contender to the IBF welterweight title, and said that if the fight with Margarito does not come off, he will wait to fight the winner of the upcoming Kermit Cintron/Mark Suarez strip for the vacant IBF welterweight title.
