Clifford Etienne's (35) brief stint as a heavyweight contender is over for good. It is almost a certainty that Clifford will return to the place where his boxing career began, prison. This past Wednesday, "The Black Rhino" was arrested in Baton Rouge Louisiana on charges of armed Robbery, kidnapping, and attempted murder of a police officer. He is currently being held in East Baton Rouge Prison on $70,000 bond.
According to the Baton Rouge Advocate, Etienne is being accused of robbing, at gun point, $1,978.00 from a check chasing business and fired one shot from his firearm in the process.
Police, in the area at the time of the incident, gave chase to a fleeing Etienne, who grew even more violent when he saw law enforcement officials on his tail. Etienne tried to fire one shot at the police, but his weapon misfired.
If shooting at the police did not make matters any worse, Etienne then attempted to carjack two vehicles, both of the vehicles had children inside of them. There was apparent resistance to his carjacking attempt from the father of the children within the second vehicle. Etienne tried to shoot the father of the small children, but his gun malfunctioned yet again.
Etienne was successful in taking one of the vehicles, but crashed it into a curb, where police surrounded him at gunpoint and took him into custody.
