WBA regular light heavyweight champ Nathan Cleverly´s defence against Swede Erik Skoglund is still lingering. Under Swedish legislation a promoter must apply for longer distances than 12 minutes 60 days in advance and Sauerland Promotion did so with May 17 in Nykoping as the date. But the deal with Cleverly or Matchroom (or both) was never made.

Sauerland are now looking to stage Cleverly-Skoglund on June 17, still in Nykoping, but again it´s not a done deal. For EBU super lightweight champ Anthony Yigit this is extra bad news as he was to do a voluntary defence of the title in the co-feature to this show.

Former EBU 130 lb champ Lars Lund Jensen again face jail time for domestic violence. The 55-year old Dane has been sentenced a number of times for grave assault and rape in a long and tragic story. If sentenced this time Jensen might be locked up for life. He was in his day an excellent talent and won the EBU title in 1988 in only his eleventh fight. He lost it in his first defence to teammate and fellow Dane Racheed Lawal and then his out of the ring problems got the best of him and his career ended at 10-3.

Yesterday Danish paper BT revealed that Simon Lundt Hansen, manager for light heavyweight Patrick Nielsen, had found an investor willing to invest one million Euro for an all-Danish showdown between comebacking Mikkel Kessler and Nielsen.

Lundt raised a valid point in that that Kessler would need to fight a rated fighter in his comeback and Nielsen is, somewhat questionable, still rated by some of the world bodies, is exactly that. Both are with Team Sauerland and Kalle Sauerland stated to BT that there was no interest in a Kessler-Nielsen showdown at this stage and referred to the offer for Nielsen to fight Erik Skoglund - an offer Lundt / Nielsen previously turned down.

Kessler is currently in the US training under Jimmy Montoya while comeback plans have yet to be revealed. As for Nielsen he returned in January after a year out and was far from impressive. At the moment he has nothing scheduled.

Former World champ and trainer Joey Gamache will return to the US after almost four years in Copenhagen training fighters from the Team Sauerland Scandinavian stable. Newly crowned WBA Cont´l heavychamp Otto Wallin plans to continue to be trained by Gamache and will also make the over there and cruiser Kai Robin Havnaa is looking to relocate to Norway and travel to the US for training camps with Gamache. Where Joey will settle in the US is still open
