On Saturday night at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, light heavyweight Tony Bellew won a lopsided twelve round unanimous decision over Ovill McKenzie. The scores were 118-112, 119-110 and 118-112. Bellew's rival, WBO light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly was sitting at ringside. Cleverly-Bellew is being lined up for the fall, according to the post-fight discussions at the venue.

The fight nearly took place in May, when Bellew stepped in to replace Juergen Braehmer, who forfeited his WBO title to Cleverly due to his history of no-shows. The British Boxing Board of Control then refused to sanction Bellew as he was six pounds over the 175-pound limit. Bellew was replaced by Aleksy Kuziemski.
