Former world champion Nathan Cleverly is ready for his second fight in the cruiserweight division. Cleverly (27-1, 13KOs) will defend his WBA Inter-Continental cruiserweight title against Alejandro Emilio Valori (15-4, 11KOs) at the Echo Arena in Liverpool. Also on the card, rival Tony Bellew (21-2-1, 13KOs) will defend the WBO International cruiserweight title against Julio Cesar Dos Santos (26-2, 23KOs).
If both of them win, them a rematch of their 2011 clash will take place in the fall. Cleverly won that first fight with a twelve round majority decision.
Cleverly feels the winner of he rematch will be right in line for a title shot.
“At the moment every fight is like a world title fight for me,” said Cleverly to South Wales Argus. "The grudge match – me against Tony Bellew – is going to be a big fight. And then the winner of that potentially fights for a world title so every fight is crucial.
“When it does happen I’m going to win and I’m going to win emphatically this time. I have no issue with fighting in Liverpool again because of the size of the arena. I’d prefer home advantage because that does make a difference to your morale but we’re struggling for the right size arena in Cardiff.”
