WBO World Light-Heavyweight Champion Nathan Cleverly will lead out the Wales national football team out Wednesday night for their friendly against the Republic of Ireland at the Millennium Stadium.
The undefeated Welsh hero has also been given the prestigious role of also carrying the match ball and will be announced to the crowd ahead of his big title defence against sledge-hammer hitting Russian Sergey Kovalev this Saturday at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena.
“It’s a great honour and a sense of pride to be asked by the Welsh FA to lead the national team out and carry the match ball for the big game,” said Cleverly. “I hope the lads do the business against Ireland and I’ll do the same against Kovalev on Saturday at the Motorpoint Arena.
"Boxing and football in Wales have great links and both support sports support each other, I’m behind the national team and Cardiff City 100 percent and they are both in my corner for my fights.”
