Earlier in the day, Bobby Bostick, promoter of welterweight Kermit "The Killer" Cintron (26-1, 24 KOs), informed BoxingScene that an agreement was reached with Don King for Cintron to face Mark Suarez for the vacant IBF welterweight belt.

The bout is slated to land in either September or October. Cintron was originally slated to appear on HBO's 7/29 telecast against undefeated prospect Richard Gutierrez, but pulled out when he was informed that a title shot was near. HBO replaced Cintron with once-beaten Joshua Clottey.
