BoxingScene/Notifight ran a story by Ernesto Castellanos in which WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto said that budding Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is a good fighter but lacks the experience needed for a clash between both fighters to happen. He didn't rule our the possibility of the fight happening in the future but feels that Canelo needs a little more seasoning.
Former welterweight champion Kermit Cintron launched a verbal assault versus Andre Berto, Julio Cesar Chavez and Antonio Margarito earlier this week on BoxingScene. Most of his assault was directed towards Berto. After reading Berto's comments about Alvarez Cintron contacted BoxingScene and had this to say - "I just read that Berto mentioned that Canelo does not have enough experience to fight him (laughing). Canelo would knock his ass out cold."
Cintron has been looking for a fight with Berto for years and claims the Haitian American has been ducking him. The outspoken Puerto Rican didn't hold back when he said - "Those excuses sound familiar. Berto is a p*ssy. Fight somebody already. I hope (Freddy) Hernandez knocks him out. I don't give a f*ck what people say about me. Some might say I'm a cry baby but its okay because it showed how bad I wanted to win."
Cintron feels that Berto has taken the path of least resistance so far in his career. He feels that Berto doesn't want to fight the best out there. "I fight anybody that is put in front of me. At least I have the balls to step in the ring and fight who ever. Berto stop being a pussy and step up. I know, I know, you don't want to fight me but please fight someone already."
Cintron had a message for his promoter Lou DiBella in closing, "Lou, please make this fight for me. You are the promoter for both of us. It's a win-win situation for you." It remains to be seem if DiBella shares Cintron's enthusiasm to make the fight a reality.
