Undefeated Swindon-based prospect Jamie Cox has been added to Frank Warren's Wembley bill, which will be headlined by Frank Buglioni's WBA World Super middleweight title tilt against Fedor Chudinov.
Cox (18-0, 10 early) has been sparring with Saul Alvarez in recent weeks. The 28-year-old southpaw soaked up the experience, but did not get to share the ring with Floyd Mayweather during a trip to Las Vegas.
Fellow undefeated fighter and friend Jack Catterall got to do some rounds with the sport's pound-for-pound number one. Cox, though, was happy that he got to see Mayweather up-close.
"We went to spar with Floyd, unfortunately I didn’t get to spar him but Jack did," he said when speaking to BoxNation's Steve Bunce. "We both went out to spar with Alvarez and did multiple rounds with Saul. It was a great experience.
"It was not just Floyd and Saul, we got to work with lots of great fighters out in America."
"Yeah, 24th of July up in Wembley, so I’m looking forward to that," he answered when asked about the Wembley bill. He is pencilled in for a 10 rounder against Switzerland's Blas Miguel Martinez for the vacant WBO European Super middleweight title.
