SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO - Universal Promotions, through their president, Javier Bustillo, are pleased to announce the signing prospect Christian Peguero.
Peguero, during the last Olympic cycle, he campaigned at 154 pounds. He captured a gold medal in the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games, winning the World Cup in emphatic fashion over Mexican Oscar Molina.
"We are very excited about the addition of Peguero to our squad of boxers at Universal Promotions. I know that in the near future he will be part of Team Puerto Rico and will join Cesar Seda Jr., Jonathan "Butter" Gonzalez, Thomas Dulorme and Luis "Orlandito" Del Valle, among others. I'm sure in the course of his career he give great glory to Puerto Rico," said promoter Javier Bustillo, president of Universal Promotions.
The fighter began his foray into boxing at the age of 13 and had 154 fights in his amateur career. Peguero won several national championships at the local level (2008, 2009 and 2010) and won several awards in international competitions.
"I'm very grateful for this opportunity provided by Universal Promotions and Bustillo. I will work hard to provide my people from Puerto Rico with many victories," said Peguero, born in Barrio Obrero, San Juan.
Peguero will have his professional debut on Friday, October 28 on the event called "Collision Course" at the Guayama Convention Center, presented by Universal Promotions Promotions in association with Miguel Cotto and H2 Entertainment. The star fight of the card will feature Fernando Torres (17-2, 10KO's) facing undefeated Abner Cotto (11-0, 5KO's) in a fight that will define the best 135 pounder in Puerto Rico.
