Christian Medina has made weight for his first WBO bantamweight title fight defense, a homecoming fight set for Friday at Domo Alcalde in Guadalajara, Mexico.

On Thursday, Medina tipped the scales at 117.0lbs, while opponent Adrian Curiel came in at the limit of 118.0lbs.

Medina, 26-4 (19 KOs), won the title last September in Nagoya, Japan, stopping Yoshiki Takei in the fourth round. Now Medina, a 25-year-old from Guadalajara, reverses roles as a headlining titleholder, eager for a marquee spot on a DAZN telecast. He is on a five-fight knockout streak since losing to former titleholder Ryosuke Nishida in August 2023.

Curiel, 26-6-1 (5 KOs), is a former IBF junior flyweight titleholder who knocked out Sivenathi Nontshinga to win the belt in November 2023. A 27-year-old from Ecatepec de Morelos, Mexico, Curiel was stopped in a rematch with Nontshinga in February 2024, and lost his following bout to former flyweight beltholder Sunny Edwards. But he has won his previous two bouts, including a 10-round unanimous decision over Johan Rubio in his previous fight, which marked Curiel’s bantamweight debut.
