Actor Christian Bale took home a Golden Globe Award, earning high praise for his role as Dickie Eklund, a former boxer addicted to drugs in the motion picture "The Fighter," a movie on the early years of "Irish" Micky Ward. Bale thanked co-star and producer Mark Wahlberg, who played Ward in the movie. Ward is Eklund's older half brother. Critics have called "The Fighter" the best boxing movie since Raging Bull.
"I've really got to give a shout out to Mark, because he drove this whole movie," said Bale. "I've played that one [role] many times, and it never gets any notice."
