The Jakarta Post reports that WBA featherweight champion Chris John wants his next mandatory title defense delayed for two months. Feeling that he does not have enough time to properly prepare for the bout, John wants the bout that is currently scheduled for early January to get pushed back to March.
John fought a month ago, successfully defending his title against Renan Acosta of Panama on Sept. 9 in Jakarta. Both John and his manager told the paper that it would be impossible for him to be ready for a January bout. John is set to tour ten cities in the next couple of weeks for one his sponors, making good training impossible as a result.
