It appears a fight is in the works to match WBA featherweight champion Chris John (41-22) of Indonesia and undefeated Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo (25-0, 13KOs), a 23-year-old prospect from Thailand. Piriyapinyo is ranked at #4 by the WBC and #8 by the WBA. John is already scheduled for a defense against Michael Lozada on July 5 in Mexico.
There is no word on when the proposed bout between John and Piriyapinyo would take place. Thailand promoter Songchai Ratanasuban is ready to negotiate with Vichit Praianan to make the event happen in Thailand. There is said to be an offer of $250,000 dollars (USD) to John for the fight. The parties are going to need a few more investors to help them make the event a reality.
