IBO super middleweight champion Chris Eubank Jr. claims that he "dominated 90 percent" of the sparring sessions with George Groves, who holds the WBA's version of the 168 puzzle.
Eubank is very eager to blast out Groves and eliminate him from the World Boxing Super Series tournament. Groves is the number 1 seed of the tournament.
Last week, Eubank punched his ticket to the tournament semi-finals, after traveling to Germany and blasting out undefeated Avni Yildrim last Saturday night.
This coming Saturday night, Groves will defend his belt in the World Boxing Super Series quarter-finals, against undefeated Jamie Cox.
If Groves wins, he would then meet Eubank on a date in January. The working date of January 20 is being mentioned.
According to Eubank, he's very confident of beating Groves - after having numerous sparring sessions with him. During those sessions, Eubank claims to have dominated the action in "90 percent of the rounds."
For several years, Eubank has wanted to get the opportunity to fight Groves - and now he is one fight away from getting that opportunity.
"I know George Groves. I know who he is, I know what he is. I know what he's capable of," Eubank Jr exclusively told Sky Sports. "I've sparred countless rounds with this man over the years. I have the measure of him. I know how those sparring sessions went. I know the levels that I was at, at those times, which was far beneath what I am now.
"I'm very confident going into a fight with him of what I'll be able to do in that ring. He's a solid world champion, there is no doubt about it. But I believe I'm a superior fighter in every single way, and I cannot wait to prove it. I believe I dominated 90 per cent of the rounds that we boxed. I have footage of quite a lot of the spars, but that doesn't need to be made public. That was for me and my eyes only and just to learn, because when these sparring sessions were happening it was still early on in my career.
"I have always watched George fight on the TV, doing these big things, and fighting in front of 80,000 people, and I'm thinking 'I can beat this guy.' It should be me up there, and now it will be."
