BoxingScene can confirm that highly-rated contender Chris Eubank Junior will take another step towards a possible future showdown with British and Commonwealth middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders this Saturday when appearing on the undercard of Stuart Hall's IBF bantamweight title defence against Paul Butler at Newcastle's Metro Radio Arena against an as yet unnamed opponent.
Eubank, 15-0 (10), stopped Robert Swierzbinski in seven in May and will hope to register his fourth win of 2014—all of his fights thus far in 2014 have been televised by BoxNation TV, who are broadcasting Saturday's bumper show, which also features Jon Lewis Dickinson and Ovill McKenzie's British and Commonwealth cruiserweight title fight, Bradley Saunders against Ville Piispanen and the pro debut of Young Fury, Tyson's younger brother and the latest fighter to roll off the Fury production line.
Eubank Junior and Saunders, 24, have engaged in a virtual war of words in recent weeks, but Saunders, a 19-0 (10) southpaw, will have to overcome Emanuele Blandamura for the vacant EBU title at Manchester's Phones 4U Arena on July 26th before considering his next move, let alone the possibility of a domestic grudge match against the 24-year-old with the world famous surname.
