Both Chris Eubank Jnr and Conor Benn were under the contracted 170lbs weight limit – set for the morning after the weigh-in – ahead of tonight’s fight at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
There were concerns over whether Eubank Jnr would make the weight after he came in marginally heavy (0.05lbs) at yesterday’s weigh-in and paid a hefty fine of $500,000. As stipulated in both fighter’s contracts, neither could weigh over 170lbs at the fight day weigh-in, which was set for 8am this morning (April 26).
Benn, who has competed at welterweight for the majority of his career, arrived first and as expected hit the scales way under the permitted limit at 165lbs – 8.6lbs more than the 156.4lbs he weighed at the official weigh-in. Benn’s weight was similar to what his promoter Eddie Hearn had predicted earlier this week.
Eubank, like yesterday, arrived over an hour late to the scales, which again raised concerns that he was struggling at the weight. There were, however, no issues this time, and Eubank Jnr was under the limit and weighed in at 169.4lbs.
