At the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California, the televised main event of ESPN's "Friday Night Fights" saw heavyweight contender Chris Arreola (30-2, 26KOs) crush Joey "Minnesota Ice" Abell (27-5, 26KOs) at 2:18 of the first round. Arreola caught Abell with a series of bombs that him out on his feet and prompted the referee to jump in quick to stop the action.
Junior welterweight Josesito Lopez (29-3, 17KOs) continues his hot streak by knocking out previously undefeated Mike Dallas Jr. (17-1, 7KOs) in the seventh round. After breaking Dallas down in the middle rounds, Lopez put him away with a hard left hook in the seventh.
In the first fight of the non-televised portion of tonight's ESPN Friday Night Fights is a six round scrap featuring junior welterweights Joseph Elegele and Manuel Aguilar. Elegele comes out crisp from a sotuhpaw stance tagging Aguilar at will. A sharp right hook drops Aguilar at of the first round causing the referee to stop the bout at 2:18 of the first and improving Elegele to 10-0 (8KOs) while Aguilar drops the first fight of his career and now stands at 5-1 (4KOs).
The next fight was a four round affair that saw the latest Joe Goossen protege Kevin Hoskins wage an absolute war with journeyman Ramon Flores. Both men dug in their
heels and went at it the entire time with Hoskins being the more polished of the two while Flores the grittier warrior. The action would not let up until the very end where Hoskins wins a highly contested split decision turning his record to 4-0 (3KOs) while Flores drops to 3-10-2 (3KOs).
