On the undercard to Andre Berto-Miguel Rodriguez at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Chris Areloa (24-0, 23KOs) kept his undefeated record when defeated previously unbeaten Chazz Witherspoon (23-1, 15KOs) by disqualification after three-rounds.

Arreola had Witherspoon in all sorts of trouble in the third-round, sending him down twice, with the second knockdown coming at the time of the bell. The ref was giving a count to Witherspoon, when Witherspoon's corner entered the ring to help him back to the corner, which caused the DQ.

Witherspoon's corner was not aware that a round does not end when a fighter goes down, even at the bell. By entering the ring while the round was still officially proceeding, they came in illegally and the ref issued the DQ call.
