Heavyweight contender Chris Arreola appears to have injured both of his hands much worse than previously thought. Last Friday in Ontaio, California, he dropped Manuel Quezada three times before winning a lopsided twelve round decision. According to Arreola's promoter Dan Goossen, the Riverside native suffered a broken left hand in the second round and his right hand suffered tendon damage. Goossen says surgery is likely.
"We had Chris at the doctors on Saturday, and we expect a full report later on today and a confirmation of everything. But it appears that he broke his left hand as he said that he did in the second round, and so he fought with a broken hand," said Goossen.
"Chris also apparently suffered tendon damage in his right hand, which will necessitate surgery on that also. I'll have more information this afternoon when he goes to the doctors again. I don't know how long he will be out until he goes to the specialist today."
