Former four division world champion Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez has advised his former opponent, Juan Francisco 'Gallo' Estrada of Mexico, to avoid standing right in front of Srisaket Sor Rungvisai of Thailand.
Last year, Gonzalez was defeated twice by the hard punching WBC super flyweight world champion.
Gonzalez was knocked down and lost a close decision in the first meeting in March, and then in September he was dropped and knocked out cold in the rematch.
Estrada, who had lost a highly competitive decision to Gonzalez in 2012, is getting his mandatory world title shot at Sor Rungvisai on February 24 at the Forum in Inglewood.
Gonzalez will be watching Sor Rungvisai vs. Estrada with a lot of interest.
He does not want Estrada to make the same mistake that he did, by standing right in front of Sor Rungvisai and trading punches.
"I'm going to be watching Estrada-Rungvisai, I do not wish anyone any harm, but the one with the best conditioning will win the fight," said Gonzalez.
"Estrada, what he has to do is move for the whole fight and not stand with Rungvisai. If he stands [in front of him], it will be dangerous."
Because Gonzalez holds a win over Estrada, he expects a lot of pressure to do a rematch in the near future - if the Mexican boxer snatches the title from Sor Rungvisia.
But Gonzalez will reject that idea, because he wants to take his time in rebuilding his career and refuses to be rushed into a major fight.
"I will say this, that because I beat Estrada once - the people at HBO are going to want that fight to happen immediately and that is not what we want to do. We want to take things calmly, we'll see what happen. Estrada is good, he knows how to do things well, but Rungvisai is a guy who hits very hard, he is very complicated," Gonzalez said.
