Jose "Chelo" Gonzalez, who faces Derrick Campos this coming Saturday at the Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum in Puerto Rico, is looking to position himself for a regional title fight at 135 pounds and then wants to try to arrange a fight with Michael Katsidis, a former WBO lightweight king, who lost his interim-title in his latest fight against Juan Manuel Marquez.
"[After Campos] I'll look for a regional title and then I'd like to fight with Katsidis and God willing later this year I'll be a WBO champion," he said.
Gonzalez, with a record of 13-0 and nine knockouts, understands that a victory over Katsidis, with a record of 27-3 and 22 knockouts, would then make him known internationally and catapult him to stardom.
"He's a former champion and he would be a good opponent. If I win, I can go straight to the title. He has a name and I would fight with him after the regional title. I want to do four fights this year and last one being for the world title," he said.
