Former world champion and Mexican legend Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. said that he disagrees with his son's decision to face Polish light heavyweight Andrzej Fonfara. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., a former WBC middleweight champion, is coming back after more than a year of inactivity and he's moving up a weight division, to face Fonfara on the 18th of April at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, United States.

Chavez Sr. tried to get him to accept something else, but his son refused to back away and accepted a fight with Fonfara at a catch-weight of 172-pounds. The fight will be carried on Showtime.

Fonfara nearly derailed WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson when they traded knockdowns in their 2014 brawl.

"I did not want this fight for my son. I think it's a very tough fight, but he wanted the challenge and took it," said Julio Sr., who traveled to Lake Tahoe to accompany his son during training.

The bout will be Julio's first ring appearance under the direction of manager/adviser Al Haymon and new trainer Joe Goossen.
