As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, the comeback for former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is coming together.
According to his legendary father, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., his older son Julio Jr. and younger son Omar Chavez will both be in action on December 3rd in the city of Monterrey, Mexico. Reports out of Mexico are naming Germany's Dominik Britsch as the opponent of choice for Chavez Jr.
Chavez has reunited with Zanfer Promotions for his next fight, and his upcoming fight will be televised by TV Azteca after his last two outings were broadcast on rival network Televisa.
Chavez Jr. has been inactive since last July when he won a ten round decision over Marcos Reyes. Several injuries have kept him out of the ring and he's very eager to return. The comeback fight will take place a few pounds above 168, as there is a well-established plan of work to get down to the super middleweight limit before seeing if it's possible to get down even lower.
Omar Chavez has also been inactive. He last fought in June 2015 with a lackluster decision win over Hector Munoz.
Chavez Sr. believes his son will return better than ever.
"I'm happy. I think Julio will return much stronger, he will reappear much better. I thank God because I think he's at a good age and he's in a good moment," Chavez Sr. said.
"He's been out of the ring because of his hand, but he's already very healthy, doing very well [in the gym], and I hope to see a completely different Julio. We will see how he reacts."
There has been very little activity from Chavez Jr., with only four fights in the last three years. The last time the "son of the legend" fought in his native Mexico, was against Billy Lyell in January 2011, and he took a wide unanimous decision.
