Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. says that he plans to travel this week to Los Angeles, California to start the toughest stage of his preparation for the December 4 meeting with Alfonso Gomez at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Chavez will come together with trainer Freddie Roach, conditioning coach Alex Ariza, Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan.
"For four weeks I have been training in Culiacan for the fight. I have been running about eight miles a day. I've been keeping an eye on the weight so I don't climb any higher than the agreed upon weight for the fight. I really do not think there's going to be any problems," Chavez said.
Chavez will have six full weeks to prepare with Roach for the fight with Gomez. If Chavez wins the contest, he is likely to face WBA 154-pound champion Miguel Cotto in March.
