Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (49-2-1, 32KOs)  is now potentially going to fight on August 27th, possibly against J'Leon Love (22-1, 12 KO's), at a venue in California.

According to Chavez Jr., the fight was previously heading to a date of July 30th, but Premier Boxing Champions revealed their July schedule on Tuesday and Chavez's return was not a part of the announced events.

Early last month, Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach mentioned Love as the frontrunner to face Chavez Jr. In late May, Chavez reunited with Roach for the first time since their split in 2012. They are currently training at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, California.

Love has won four fights in a row since getting knocked out by Rogelio Medina in three rounds in August of 2014.

Chavez Jr. (49-2-1, 32 KOs) has been away from the ring since July 2015, when he badly injured his hand during a ten round decision victory over Marco 'Dorado' Reyes in El Paso, Texas. The injury required surgery and prevented him from fighting for the remainder of last year.

According to ESPN Deportes, Chavez's next fight will take place at 170-pounds. Chavez has not made the super middleweight limit since 2014. He was over 170 for his last two ring outings, and weighed over 170 in three of his last four fights dating back to 2013.

Chavez was slated to return earlier this year in a world title fight against WBC super middleweight king Badou Jack. Chavez withdrew from the planned April date after suffering an injury to his left heel in training camp. He was later replaced by former IBF champion Lucian Bute who went to a controversial twelve round draw with Jack.

He started off the year with trainer Robert Garcia, who helped prepare him for the fight with Reyes, but then Chavez made the switch to Roach once the Jack fight was officially off.
