BoxingScene.com was advised by Top Rank CEO Bob Arum that Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (41-0-1, 30KOs) vs. John Duddy (29-1, 18KOs) is seriously being discussed for June 26 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Top Rank will attempt to finalize the fight in the next few days.
Top Rank will position Chavez-Duddy as the headliner on a stacked "Latin Fury" pay-per-view. One of the main supporting fights would have WBO super flyweight champion Jorge Arce (53-6, 40KOs) move up to bantamweight to challenge interim-champion Eric Morel (42-2, 21KOs).
Arum also advised BoxingScene, that Chavez Jr. is going to reveal a new trainer in the coming weeks.
"After Easter, we're going to announe his new trainer and it's going make a big, big difference," Arum told BoxingScene.com.
I've been told by numerous sources that Chavez's new trainer is likely going to be Abel Sanchez, who owns and trains fighters in his state-of-the-art gym in Big Bear, California.
