Former champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. says his legal team, and manager Billy Keane, made a unified recommendation to him to take a pass on the mandatory title shot at newly crowned WBC super middleweight champion Anthony Dirrell. Chavez is still dealing with a legal tug of war with promoter Top Rank, and because of that ongoing situation the boxer has been inactive since defeating Bryan Vera in March of this year.
"My lawyers have been dealing with these issues, and so has my manager Billy Keane, who still oversees everything. They were the ones who made the decision not to fight for the title. They are telling me what's best for right now," explained Chavez Jr.
