The WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has responded to Argentine boxer Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez, who claims the Mexican champion has been protected by the World Boxing Council. Chavez will defend the title against Martinez on September 15th at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"They have said things that are not true. If anyone has protected by the WBC, it was Maravilla, because he is a friends of [WBC President Jose] Sulaiman and even appeared on a television program [with him]. I've never been involved with the WBC. Sergio did business with them because he wanted money. Nobody wants to fight him, and I'm the only one who gave him the opportunity," Chavez said.
"On September 15 they will know who I am. I will establish myself as a great champion. I'm going to win and make him eat his words and I will ask him - "where are you going when you lose to me."
