The battle for the IBF lightweight title between champion Jesus Chavez and Marco Antonio Barrera is off. Chavez's manager Lou Mesorano informed BoxingScene that Chavez tore a muscle in his left bicep, and that the injury would likely keep Chavez out of action for several months. The bout was scheduled for March 25, no word if the fight will be rescheduled down the road.
Barrera, was moving up in weight to face Chavez in an attempt to capture a title in his fourth weight division, something no Mexican fighter has been able to achieve.
