Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. says WBA 'regular' super middleweight champion Carl Froch is a better opponent than IBO/WBO/WBC interim-middleweight champion Gennady “GGG" Golovkin and 50-year-old legend Bernard Hopkins.
Chavez was in talks last year to face Golovkin, with the negotiations falling apart because the Mexican boxer was having legal issues with his promoter Top Rank. Chavez will return on April 18th against Polish light heavyweight contender Andrzej Fonfara.
“It's not for me, but for all the fans! Neither Golovkin or Bernard Hopkins are better opponents than Carl Froch,” Chavez stated.
The feeling is mutual, as Froch recently rejected a high-profile stadium fight with Hopkins in favor of a summer fight with Chavez.
