Unbeaten heavyweight contender Manuel Charr is 21-0 in the ring, but he admits to having nothing in his bank account. On September 8th, he challenges WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko in Moscow, Russia. At one point he saved up to 200,000 Euro but used it to help organize his own fights.
"In my last fight against Taras Bydenko, I was 60,000 Euros in debt. Now I am penniless. My apartment, my car and my food is being financed by friends," Charr said.
Even the six figure payday against Vitali will not help Charr clean up his finances. At the moment he trains in an old rusty warehouse with less than stellar equipment.
"About half of my purse goes to the tax. In addition to my debt, I must also pay fight flights, coaches and the support staff," said Charr.
