Charlie Edwards is set to make his return to the ring next month.
The undefeated WBC International Silver flyweight champion (7-0, 3 KOs) will fight abroad for the first time, live on Sky Sports.
Edwards, 23, who also holds the English title at eight-stone and is promoted by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Sport, looks scheduled to box on July 16 as part of a Sauerland Event promotion in Germany.
He’ll feature on the undercard of a second world title-headed show on the bounce, after boxing on the Carl Frampton-Scott Quigg bill in Manchester in February, when he puts the gloves on over eight rounds at the Max Schmeling Halle in Berlin, which is topped by Giovanni De Carolis’ defence of the WBA super-middleweight title against Tyron Zeuge and flanked by a co-feature of Arthur Abraham, who is returning from his fifth career defeat at the hands of Gilberto Ramirez in April, against Tim-Robin Lihaug for the vacant WBO International belt at 168lbs.
“I can’t wait to fight in Germany,” he said. “It is going to be a great experience and put me in good stead for big fights down the line.
“I am training really hard and have stepped it up since I knew I was going away to fight. I´m looking to put in a mega performance.”
The news of the former Team GB star’s first away day as a pro was revealed by his management company, MGM Marbella, and they wish him well in his first contest overseas.
