Ohara Davies has confirmed his next fight date and teased his fans as to its significance.
The Hackney lightweight, 24, will return to the ring in the spring on a Sky Sports Box Office-televised bill.
Davies, who is nicknamed ‘Two Tanks’, has amassed a perfect 10-0 record with eight stoppages in the paid ranks and will look to extend that when he faces an opponent to be named at the O2 Arena in London.
He’ll feature in a title fight as part of the same card as his gym-mate Anthony Joshua, who takes on his toughest test to date on April 9 as he challenges America’s Charles Martin for the IBF heavyweight world title.
Having been sparring Ricky Burns, the former two-time world champion, in the build-up to his latest showdown, Davies –– who last boxed at the Copper Box Arena in the capital in January and the ECHO Arena in Liverpool just over two months earlier –– has halted his last four opponents and will look to continue in the same vein.
Also on the card, Brian Rose (28-3-1, 8 KOs) and Matthew Macklin (34-6, 22 KOs) will clash in an official eliminator for the WBC middleweight title, which is currently held by Saúl ‘Canelo’ Alvárez and will be challenged for by Bolton’s Amir Khan on May 7 at the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
And Conor Nigel Benn, the son of former WBO middleweight and WBC super middleweight championship Nigel, will make his professional debut after agreeing to turn over to the paid code.
Further undercard fights for the Martin-Joshua bill are to be revealed in due course.
