Charles Conwell (12-0) is hoping to be fast tracked to a world title shot.
The career of 2016 US Olympian has been stunted by the covid-19 pandemic but he hopes to get into big fights soon. BoxingScene.com recently caught up with him and asked him what would be his dream fight if he could face anyone in the loaded super welterweight division.
"I would fight Jeison Rosario. I am already ranked in the IBF so I would take that IBF spot if I had it my way and go straight to him if it was going to go how I want it to go. I didn't believe it would go that way to me. It was a shocker to me. I knew he was real strong in the beginning and J Rock didn't look too sharp," Conwell stated.
Rosario burst onto the scene in January when he stopped WBA/IBF super welterweight champion Julian "J Rock" Williams in one of the biggest upsets of the year so far.
Jermell Charlo currently holds the WBC title and Patrick Texeira has the WBO title in the 154 pound division. Conwell believes that Charlo must be considered the top fighter in the division due to his resume and longevity. He regained his WBC title in December when he knocked out Tony Harrison in 11 rounds in Southern California.
"I think the division is stacked. It isn't really one face and one name. There are a lot of good fighters. You can say Rosario is the man (because he has two titles) but Charlo has got his belt back and has been on top for a long time in the division," Conwell told BoxingScene.com.
