Chad Dawson is just days away from his showdown against Adonis Stevenson. HBO will air the fight live from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec on Saturday night. Stevenson voluntarily dropped his #1 ranking by the IBF in the super middleweight division for a crack at Dawson and his WBC light heavyweight belt.
Stevenson is blessed with tremendous power but has had problems securing a marquee opponent prior to this fight. Dawson visited with us on the latest edition of BoxingScene Radio and said and said that he isn't fazed by the Hatian-Canadian's power.
"To be the best you have to fight the best. I'm not saying he is the best. I've studied him and he's a big puncher but I will fight the guys no one wants to fight. Its going to be a long night for him," Dawson explained.
The two fighters exchanged words at the press conference to announce the fight. Stevenson has stated in numerous interviews that he will knock Dawson out. The Connecticut native thinks that Stevenson really doesn't know what he has gotten himself into.
"He definitely is going to be in for a shock. He's running his mouth saying he is going to knock me out but I think he's going to be in for a rude awakening When he sees how big I am and what I bring to the table," Dawson told BoxingScene Radio.
Dawson also left the door to having future fights in Montreal. Saturday will be his third fight at the Bell Centre and Dawson said that he would definitely consider being the "A" side to a fight in Canada, similar to what Librado Andrade had previously done.
"I think I've created a fan base here. The fans are excited about this fight. I'm open to any options at this point. If they want to bring me in as the main attraction I'm open to it," Dawson stated.
