Unbeaten super flyweight Cesar "Junito" Seda (20-0, 15KOs) has received clearance from his physician to begin training on Monday as announced his father and manager, Cesar Seda Sr., who said the hard-hitting boxer will be ready to return to the ring in two months.
Seda had injured his pinkie knuckle on his right hand in his last fight with Jose 'Carita' Lopez but he developed cellulitis and the wound became infected, which canceled his fight on February 18 in Ponce.
"He suffered from tendinitis and then developed cellulitis that did not allow the knuckle to heal from the injury he received with Carita. He was given antibiotics for the treatment. There was a bit of swelling on the knuckle but he had therapy and the doctor gave him the green light to start training on Monday," Seda Sr. said.
Seda is promoted by Javier Bustillo and Gary Shaw.
"We are pleased with the work of Universal Promotions and Gary Shaw. Two months ago [Shaw] joined us and now we're first in the WBO. We are happy with their work," he said.
He said both promoters are trying to get his son a fight with Argentinean Omar Narvaez, the current 115-pound king of the WBO, and the Mexican Hugo Cázarez, champion of the WBA.
"Shaw has a lot of dates on television, like on Showtime, and if he does not reach an agreement [with Narvaez] , it will eventually go to a purse bid and he'll have to fight [Seda]."
