This past Saturday night at the Megapolis Convention Center in Panama City, Nehomar Cermeno (22-5-1, 13KOs) won a twelve round split decision over previously undefeated Oscar Escandon (22-1) to capture the interim-WBA super bantamweight championship.
There has been a protest by Team Escandon, which is being taken seriously, regarding a strange substance that was used in Cermeno's corner.
During the fight, Cermeno's suffered a bad cut on his right eyelid. The boxer's corner applied a substance which stopped the bleeding so quickly that even the ringside doctors became curious.
The substance was confiscated and sent over to a lab for testing. If the substance is found to be illegal, then it is likely that his victory will be changed to a no-contest.
